Amazon is a behemoth of a business and is almost untouchable at this point because they have expanded into so many markets than they were originally built for. Their acquisitions of whole foods, twitch, amazon prime, and other brands have allowed them to compete successfully in some of the most competitive industries. If other mega-corporations really want to compete with Amazon at a macro level, they are going to need to start acquiring businesses that are also out of their industry and put them all under one roof.
