Planning to execute steps for growth and documenting what works, lessons learned, or what other people need to do for you is something very rare for artist to do, at least from my experience. And if your manager can't take initiative on these elements than you're really in trouble. Bottom line, planning and/or documenting the process is not just important to businesses outside of the music biz but is just as important in the music industry.
